The COVID-19 pandemic that hit in 2020 impacted almost every facets of life. As the economy also took a hit, families saw a fall in their income or even a loss of their livelihood. To cushion the crisis’ impact to the poor and vulnerable, the Government of Indonesia expanded the coverage and value of its social programmes. However, with the pandemic extending beyond 2020, the extent to which social assistance programmes could protect its recipients remains a question. Faced with uncertainties and limited resources, women play a key role in maintaining family welfare.
